If you are using AI1 ("Classic") on a Mac, you should upgrade to Java 7 if you install Mavericks (MacOS 10.9). How to update Java in MacOS Mavericks (10.9) This information does not apply to App Inventor 2 users, unless you are also building your own version of App Inventor.
